Dept of Justice Charged BASF, and ROCHE With Anti Trust Violations - Massive Fines Levied

http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/public/press_releases/1999/2450.htm

But BASF, Roche, Rhone Poulenc and Other Pharmaceutical Companies Attempt to Achieve the SAME Vitamin Monopoly Via the UN's Codex Alimentarius Commission-- After FDA's Yetley Flagrantly Ignored a written demand from Congressman Dan Burton, Chair of the House Government Reform Committee to NOT do what she did at CODEX, because it violated exising US law! DOJ must investigate Yetley! Congress MUST Hold an Oversight Hearing prior to the next Codex meeting June 24th!

26 Members of CRN ALSO BELONG TO NNFA- Conflict of Interest CLOSELY Examined.

IAHF LIST:

TOTAL AND COMPLETE CONFLICT OF INTEREST EXPOSED- NEW INFORMATION

(Why you MUST Call the Government Reform Committee and demand an Oversight Hearing on Codex prior to the next Codex meeting June 24th- Call Beth Clay at 202-225-5074 fax this to her at 202-225-3974, email it to her at beth.clay@mail.house.gov, fax it to your Congressman and call him via 202-225-3121 (Congressional Switchboard, email it to Assistant Attorney General Joel I Kline at the Dept. of Justice, antitrust@usdoj.gov and demand that they open a new investigation.

CONNECT THE DOTS:

1.John Hathcock, Ph.D. left the FDA's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) where he used to work side by side with Beth Yetley, (US Delegate to the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Food for Special Dietary Use)... and now... he works for the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) http://www.crnusa.org (To see the roster of CRN members, go to http://www.crnusa.org/cgi-shl/dbml.exe?action=query&template=/crn/members.dbm

(Among CRN's pharmaceutical members are AHP, Monsanto,Bayer,BASF, Rhone Poulenc, Warner Lambert and MANY more and they have the NERVE to claim to be a vitamin trade association!)

(So... I ask you... isn't it pretty safe to say that Hathcock's (CRN's) position on CODEX would be IDENTICAL with FDA's? (He wrote a paper titled "Vitamin and Mineral Safety" which parallels the pseudoscience found in the NAS paper which FDA illegally put on the table at Codex to enable the drug cartel to advance beyond the consumer generated impasse. (See http://www.iahf.com Codex Oversight for more information)

Brian Leibovitz, PhD, Former editor Journal of Applied Nutrition and former scientific advisor to Twin Lab, Inc. has reviewed both papers and pronounced them "pseudoscience". So has Bonnie Camo, MD, an orthomolecular physician with over 20 years of clinical experience with nutrients.

Given that 3 members of CRN (Roche Vitamins Inc. (Div. Hoffman La Roche), Daiichi Fine Chemicals Inc., Kemin Foods) helped the FDA fund the National Academy of Sciences highly unscientific paper "A Risk Assessment Model for Establishing Safe Upper Levels for Nutrients"

http://vm.cfsan.fda.gov/~download/nutrisk.exe which FDA illegally put on the table at CODEX, doesn't this situation violate the anti trust laws? (The DOJ just fined Hoffman La Roche $50 Million for its role in violating anti trust laws via international price fixing on vitamin raw materials- see http://www.usdoj.gov/atr/public/press_releases/1999/2450.htm

isn't it safe to say that CRN and FDA have identical interests here?

2. OVERLAP Between CRN and NNFA: (OR- WHY MICHAEL FORD, NNFA EXEC DIR WON'T KICK BASF or RHONE POULENC OUT OF NNFA):

There are 26 members of NNFA which also belong to CRN. They are:

BASF, Rhone Poulenc, Capsugel (Warner Lambert),American Labs, Banner Pharmacaps, BIOSENT USA Inc., Biotron Inc., Celestial Seasonings Inc., East-Earth Herb Inc, Euromed USA Inc.,Feeling Fine Co., General Nutrition Products Inc, Henkel Corp.,Inter-Cal Corp., Kemin Foods, Leiner Health Products, Lonza Inc., MW International Inc., Nature's Bounty Inc., Nutraceutical Corp., Nutro Labs Inc., Pharmanex Inc., Rainbow Light Nutr. Systems, Vita Tech Intl., Wakunaga of America Inc.,Hauser Inc.,

Given this 26 member overlap between CRN and NNFA isn't it safe to assume that NNFA is being steered by its CRN members, especially by BASF, Rhone Poulenc, and Warner Lambert?

Given that NNFA dues are calculated as a percentage of a companies gross, and given that BASF grossed 54 Billion Deutschemarks last year or $ 28,907,922,912.21 ($28 Billion 907 Million 922 Thousand 912 and 21 cents at June 1, 1999 exchange rate of $1.868000), I wonder how much $$ NNFA collected in membership dues from BASF? Why did NNFA Exec Dir. Michael Ford deny via email that BASF is a member of NNFA when it clearly says on p.6 of the NNFA Membership Directory that they are? What percentage of NNFA's gross revenue stems from dues paid by BASF? Shouldn't the small to mid sized manufacturing members of NNFA be asking questions about this?

The Board of Directors is taking no action to kick BASF out in the aftermath of the Department of Justice fining them $25,000,000. for their illegal price fixing scam, but would they if they KNEW about it when Ford has undoubtedly said NOTHING to them about it?

How much were other NNFA member companies who bought vitamin raw materials from BASF gouged for by the company? Couldn't BASF be attempting to achieve the same result and MORE via CODEX which would enable them to make MORE money, from LESS product, by selling high potency vitamins as "drugs"?

Shouldn't the small to mid sized manufacturing members of NNFA be taking a MUCH CLOSER LOOK at this?

(If they're NOT, could that possibly have anything to do with the fact that the Chair of NNFA's International Committee, Randy Dennin of Capsugel (Div. of Warner Lambert), might deliberately NOT TELL THEM?

Check out these historical facts about Warner Lambert
http://www.warner-lambert.ch/news.htm

Notice that that there is no mention of vitamins, and nothing but mention of drugs, and Shick Razor Blades. (They own Shick, and also the Parke Davis Company.) They seem far more interested in selling drugs like "Lipitor" and "Resulin" for the treatment of high cholesterol and diabetes, or "Sudafed", and "Actifed", which they recently acquired the rights to. Isn't it a conflict of interest for a representative of this multinational pharmaceutical company to be the International Chairman of a VITAMIN trade association? Joe Bassett, President of NNFA, told me that Dennin was the prime mover behind NNFA's position on Codex. Warner Lambert's net in 1998 was $10 Million 213 Thousand.

This company talks about business ventures with other pharmaceutical companies such as Pfizer. Wouldn't it be to this companies advantage, and to the advantage of Pfizer to suppress the use of vitamins?

NNFA member Rhone Poulenc ($14.7 billion in sales, 1998) was also named by the Dept of Justice in the price fixing scam but they weren't charged due to cooperating with the DOJ. Just the same, they were involved in a crime, and they were also ripping off NNFA manufacturing members who purchased vitamin raw materials from them. Isn't it STRANGE that Michael Ford denied via email that they are a member of NNFA when it clearly states that they ARE on p.50 in the NNFA Membership Directory?

What percentage of the $14.7 billion did NNFA collect in dues last year? At http://news.chemicalonline.com/wires/19990513-591792251.html we learn that a full merger is planned between Rhone Poulenc and former IG Farben Company Hoechst. At http://www.rath.nl we learn that Hoechst, along with BASF and Bayer comprised IG Farben, which ran Hitler's concentration camps and which fueled the Nazi war machine...

How many NNFA members are Jews? How many NNFA members feel comfortable with Rhone Poulenc being a member of NNFA when they A)Were caught by the DOJ for anti trust violations involving price fixing on the sale of vitamin raw materials when any NNFA member who bought from them was grossly ripped off, and B) When the company is planning a full merger with Hoechst?

When NNFA/CRN member Rhone Poulenc merges with Hoechst-- that will put Hoechst, Bayer and BASF in CRN, and it will put BASF and Hoechst in NNFA.

In 1963, recognizing their long range need to dominate and control the world wide sale of dietary supplements, Hoechst, Bayer and BASF influenced Germany to become the host country of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Use.

Shouldn't the rank and file of NNFA take notice of this fact and start asking serious questions about conflict of interest?

Shouldn't the Department of Justice extend their anti trust inquiry a bit further to also closely examine what is going on at CODEX?

Shouldn't the US Government Reform Committee hold an Oversight Hearing on CODEX prior to the next CODEX meeting which starts in Rome on June 24, 1999 given that Hoechst, Bayer, and BASF are clearly involved in manipulating the vitamin trade associations, (along with other pharmaceutical interests) and that the FDA clearly violated current US law which forbids taking any action that threatens to undermine our current dietary supplement laws?
