IAHF Webmaster: Breaking News, Whats New, What to Do, All Countries, Codex, EU Food Supplement Directive

IAHF List: See my response below to Mannatech Distributor Nick Elgroth, and please forward this widely to network marketing vitamin distributors world wide. I am now wondering how many OTHER Mannatech distributors have been led to believe what Nick believes?

The spin we're up against is outrageous!!! If you value your access to dietary supplements, please forward this alert widely. Post it on websites. Post it on usenet discussion groups, anyplace where it can be seen by more people. We're running out of time. ANH will be in court January 30th and badly need more donations http://www.alliance-natural-health.org

If you value your access to the supplements you use, you will print this out and show it to every health food store owner within a 50 mile radius of your house, and urge them to call me too. I'll put a message on my answering machine if I have to, but its just AMAZING how asleep people are. You'll see what I mean when you read Nick's feedback to me below...

Subject: Mannatech's Position on the EU Food Supplement Directive and Codex---- Help in Connecting the Dots.....

At 05:28 PM 1/3/04 -0600, you wrote:

Dear John,

I am a Mannatech Associate and have just read your message about the EU. I cannot understand the response of Sam Caster not replying to you....unless he thinks that the decisions of the EU would not apply to Mannatech because their products are manufactured to pharmaceutical standards, and have scientific studies backing them up. I know that Mannatech has recently tested many products taken off the shelf of health food stores, GNC, etc and found that many of them do not contain what they claim. If that is the case, these inferior products give us all a bad name. If you have read the Galaxo, Kline report that states that they know that many of their products do no good for from 50 to 70% of the people taking them. The drug companies know that but still keep selling them.

With the less effective products out of the way, the products that work would have a better chance of being purchased. What do you think of this? Nick Eltgroth

Nick-

Thanks for querying me, I appreciate your concern and interest in this entire matter.

You aren't understanding what is going on, but I hope this helps you to "connect the dots." Please forward this to Ray Gabaur. I left a message on his machine today but don't have his email address and would appreciate it if someone sent it to me.

Sam Caster needs to look very closely at the fact that CRN is setting the entire supplement industry up for destruction, and I don't make that statement lightly either.

I just received an email today from Anthony Rees, a health freedom colleague in South Africa where CRN is attempting to influence the South African Foods Directorate to accept mindless RDIs for potency restrictions on the vitamins that can be sold there. I am forwarding this to Ant in case you'd like to communicate with him, his email address is director@honeri.org

CRN is attempting to lobby against the current South African position at Codex, which has been the only country to consistently stand up for consumers right to access natural products. The South African Codex Delegate, Antoinette Booyzen, has a sister who had a positive healing experience with dietary supplements, but she is the only Codex Delegate on our side and the Codex vitamin standard is on the verge of being pushed through to completion and will be unless we overturn the EU Food Supplement Directive in court.

When I say this, I'm not talking about a situation that would only drive the companies that aren't manufacturing to pharmaceutical standards out of business, I'm talking about a situation that threatens to destroy our industry completely. The Food Supplements Directive will outlaw high potency vitamins. It will outlaw over 300 bioavailable nutrient forms present in over 5,000 products. The banned ingredients list includes a large number of the safest, most bioavailable food derived forms including such natural vitamin forms as mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin E), carotenoids, and methylcobolomin (B-12), all forms of sulphur (good bye MSM), boron, vanadium, silicon, and most trace elements, the most readily absorbed and safest forms of calcium, magnesium, zinc, selenium, chromium and molybdenum. It will severely limit the doses of vitamins and minerals allowed in products, removing all high potency vitamins from the market. It will include future restrictions on nutrient forms other than vitamins and minerals such as fatty acids, amino acids, enzymes, probiotics, phytonutrients, etc. The glyconutrients that Mannatech uses will be outlawed if this juggernaut is not stopped, and the first domino has already fallen... The EU Food Supplements Directive has already passed into EU law. If its not overturned in court, you will witness the total destruction of your business.

Mannatech isn't going to be able to keep selling any of its products in the EU unless we turn over the Food Supplement Directive in court, and kill the Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive, and the worst of the three- the Pharmaceuticals Directive.

You need to grasp that we're up against a genocide agenda here, an effort to cull our numbers and thats no exaggeration either. The world's ruling elite don't want us hitting the entitlement programs like Medicare, Medicaid, etc "too hard" they want us shuffling off this immortal coil the moment we turn 65, if not sooner.

The Pharmaceuticals Directive turns any substance with any physiologic effect in the body into a "drug". It would turn WATER into a "drug."

ANH just engaged in an emergency lobbying session in Strasborg Belgium (EU Parliament) where they were able to get the IRISH MEP (Member- European Parliament) to issue stop gap language to protect us for the time being, but we're up against powerful special interests which politically dominate the EU and they're not on our side.

Lest you think I am exaggerating, I encourage you to spend some time on the website of the Alliance for Natural Health http://www.alliance-natural-health.org and keep in mind as you read about their lawsuit that their legal director is an attorney, and a Mannatech Distributor in England. His name is David Hinde. I am forwarding this to you so that you will have his email address.

David just met with Dr.Reg McDaniel in Texas, and was going to have breakfast with Sam Caster but there wasn't time for them to meet.

David feels that Sam has a solid grasp of the situation, but I have no way to be certain of that because Sam has not communicated with me so I really don't know to what degree he is in fact connecting the dots. Perhaps he is not communicating out of concern about how this information could impact Mannatech's stock. Perhaps he naively thinks that just because he is a Board member of CRN that he can sway CRN in ways that would protect Mannatech's interests. If thats what he thinks, he's living in a fantasy world. CRN is dominated by the largest drug companies on this planet: Pfizer, Wyeth, BASF, Bayer, and Monsanto and none of them benefit from Mannatech's existence, believe me.

I was the first person in the world to call the Codex International Threat to Health Freedom to the public's attention (with an article published in Life Extension Magazine in 1996.) I have been tracking this threat more closely than anyone else in the world since that time, and I've been a consultant to the dietary supplement industry on legislative issues since 1989 as an industry lobbyist and organizor.

I was kicked off the US Codex Delegation prior to the 2000 meeting in Berlin due to my efforts as a whistleblower. An oversight hearing in Congress that I pushed for for 5 years was whitewashed and the truth did not come out. The FDA has set the USA up to lose in a future WTO Trade Dispute on the Codex vitamin issue, and the only way we can protect our interests as a result is by working with our international allies, including but not limited to the Alliance for Natural Health in England. I have had death threats and constant threats of legal action due to my efforts to call this matter to the public's attention.

My interest is in preserving my access to the dietary supplements for which I have a genetic need.

My life was saved over 20 years ago by a suppressed alternative treatment mode (orthomolecular medicine) and I have a serious need for the supplements I use.

I am one of the authors of the book Alternative Medicine- Expanding Medical Horizons, which was published by the US Government Printing Office and is still in print.

I'm dead serious when I tell you that the future survival of the supplement industry is at stake.

If you want to discuss any aspect of what I'm saying, please call me at 800-333-2553 (N.America) I am in Washington State. If you call and I am not here, just leave a message and best time to call back. Please forward this to multilevel distributors not only in Mannatech, but in other network marketing companies especially if they also belong to CRN. Any company that is a member of CRN is threatening the lives of vitamin consumers world wide, and that is not an exaggeration. South Africa's delegate at Codex is the only one totally on the side of supplement consumers, and as I type this, CRN is lobbying hard inside South Africa to try to get her removed from next year's South African delegation. If you would like to confirm the truth of what I'm saying, send an email to Dr.Anthony Rees in South Africa at director@honeri.org

I'd be glad to furnish you and anyone else who asks with an abundance of documentation to back up everything I'm saying.
